Methodology

  • A test is one pass through a real cart of the shop: OSG puts a test item in the cart, enters a publicly listed code and reads the shop’s response.
  • Counting is per shop and code pair, not per run. The last decisive run of the pair in the window counts; a later fault of the test rig does not turn a code proven invalid into “not measurable”.
  • Works: the shop deducts a discount (shipping discounts too, reported separately). Invalid: the shop rejects the code. Blocked: bot protection prevented the test, which says something about our access, not about the code. Not provable: the code was accepted but gave no discount on our test cart. Not measurable: no decisive run exists (error, field not found, unclear result).
  • Rates appear only with at least 30 pairs that have a verdict (works or invalid). Two rates are shown, against pairs with a verdict and against all tested pairs; the second is the stricter one.
  • Series, fragments and generic words are removed beforehand as non-codes. Test codes of the rig do not count.
  • The figures are recomputed automatically from the test runs and read when the page is served, not at build time. If they are unavailable or stale, no figure is shown here.

Limits

  • The analysis describes the pairs OSG tested, not all codes on the web and not retail as a whole. The selection of tested pairs follows OSG’s test cadence and is not a random sample.
  • Breakdown by market: not collected. The runtime source holds pairs only as a total; there is no per-country count, and none is estimated.
  • Number of shops tested: not collected, for the same reason.
  • A test cart can reject a code that works in another cart (minimum order value, product group, new customers). “Invalid” means: rejected in our test cart.
